Login Station User Instructions - Equipment Utilization (Unscheduled / Emergency Maintenance)
FollowProduction employee assignment to Pending Maintenance
The below instructions detail how a production employee, manager or administrator should use the Spindle Login Station (DLLS) to assign Spindle equipment to a Pending Maintenance status.
- From the Spindle Login Station, have the employee scan their Spindle RFID card to access the station.
- The login station can also be accessed manually (bypassing the RFID Card Reader), by selecting Login and keying in their unique Spindle number, assigned in Spindle Admin – Users.
- Key the employee’s Spindle RFID Primary Card ID number and select OK.
- Once the card has been scanned, or the Spindle ID has been manually entered, the employee’s current status will show. See below.
- Next, the production employee, manager or administrator should use the Lane Status drop-down arrow to select Pending Maintenance.
- By selecting Pending Maintenance, this will alert maintenance personnel (on Spindle Displays and in SpindleLIVE) that this piece of equipment is Awaiting Maintenance.
NOTE: In the below example, the production employee has only assigned a “Pending Maintenance” status to their respective lane. If the entire piece of equipment is “Pending Maintenance”, they should select the “Assign All Lanes Same Status” button (pointed out with RED arrow below).
Assigning equipment to Down for Maintenance
The below instructions detail how a maintenance worker, manager or administrator should use the Spindle Login Station (DLLS) to assign Spindle equipment to a Down for Maintenance status.
Emergency / Unscheduled Maintenance
- From the Spindle Login Station, have the maintenance employee scan their Spindle RFID card to access the station.
- The login station can also be accessed manually (bypassing the RFID Card Reader), by selecting Login and keying in their unique Spindle number, assigned in Spindle Admin – Users.
- Key the employee’s Spindle RFID Primary Card ID number and select
- Next, the maintenance worker, manager or administrator should select from the list of areas, the area in which the maintenance will be performed.
- Next, the maintenance worker, manager or administrator should select the equipment in which maintenance will be performed, by touching on the equipment image, as shown below.
- Next, from the equipment view, the maintenance worker, manager or administrator should log into the appropriate lane or Eq Lane.
NOTE: If the entire piece of equipment is awaiting maintenance or the maintenance employee is required to take down the entire piece of equipment, the maintenance employee should log into the “Eq” lane, as shown below. If only a specific lane (station) has an issue, the maintenance employee should log into the specific lane (station) that requires maintenance.
- Touch the Equipment Status drop-down arrow and select Maintenance to place the equipment in a Down for Maintenance
- Once Maintenance is selected, the below screen will appear.
- Select the appropriate Maintenance Type from the list of options. In this case, it is Emergency.
- Select the appropriate Maintenance Reason from the list of options.
- Optional - Use the Work Order field to type in any specific information deemed relevant to the task being performed (up to 255 characters). Once selected, a digital keyboard will appear on the screen.
NOTE: Once all of the fields have been populated (Work Order optional), the equipment lane will change from ORANGE (Pending Maintenance) to RED (Down for Maintenance).
- Once the maintenance action is complete, prior to changing the equipment status back to normal, ensure all fields with appropriate reason codes and information are selected.
NOTE: Whatever information is selected when the equipment is changed back to “Normal”, that is what will be recorded in Spindle.
- Select Normal from the Equipment Status drop-down menu.
- This will take move the Spindle equipment out of Down for Maintenance status and back into Normal
- After this action is completed, the maintenance worker is still logged into the equipment and assigned a General Maintenance Task (GMT) status. They should select an accurate GMT status if they stay at the equipment (identified in GMT section), or move to the appropriate location with the appropriate assigned task that they are performing next.
- Repeat the above steps for the next Emergency / Unscheduled maintenance task (if applicable).
Assignment to Break / Lunch / Meeting / End Shift
Follow the below steps to have a maintenance worker assign themselves to Break, Lunch, Meeting, or End Shift.
- Scan Spindle RFID card, or enter Spindle Primary Card ID and select the appropriate status.
NOTE: Once the Break / Lunch / Meeting is over, have the maintenance employee follow the above “Maintenance Worker Assignment” steps to assign themselves back to the appropriate maintenance task.
Moving from one Maintenance Task to another
When a maintenance employee is going to change a maintenance tasks, they do NOT need to “log out” of the previous maintenance task to assign themselves to the new task. Simply have them follow the Maintenance Employee Assignment steps above and the system will automatically log them out of the task once the new task has been selected.
