Weekend Windows Updates for Your Spindle Server
FollowWhat to know: Your Spindle server may occasionally become unresponsive during scheduled weekend Windows updates and security patches.
Our remote monitoring software installs these updates automatically. While the process usually completes without issue, some servers may need a manual restart depending on the server or network.
If your Spindle server becomes unresponsive
1. Wait for updates to finish
If the screen displays “Working on updates,” wait up to 60 minutes before taking action. Do not turn off the server while updates are in progress.
2. Restart the server normally
- If you’re logged in: Select Start > Power > Restart.
- If you’re not logged in: Briefly press and release the power button once. Wait for the server to shut down, then press the power button again to turn it back on.
3. Force restart only if necessary
If the server is completely frozen and won’t respond, use this as a last resort:
- Hold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Press the power button again to turn the server back on.
4. Allow the updates to complete
After restarting, allow another 10–20 minutes for updates to finish. Then verify that your Spindle stations and monitors are updating as expected.
