Steps to Configure Color Codes and Sort Order
1. Open Rail Classifications
Log in to Spindle Admin.
Click on the Rails tab.
Select Rail Classifications from the menu.
2. Edit Color Code and Sort Order
In the Rail Classifications list, locate the columns Color Code and Sort Order.
Click Edit on the classification you want to modify.
Under Color Code, select one of the available 15 colors from the palette.
You may also leave it blank (the 16th option), which will display as white.
Under Sort Order, enter the desired number to define the display order on the Rail Lift screen.
Click Save when finished.
Result in the Rail Lift Screen
Once saved, changes will appear automatically on the Rail Lift screen after a short delay.
Updates typically apply immediately upon refresh or within 15 minutes as caching clears.
Rail workers will see classifications appear in the new sort order and with the selected color coding.
Best Practices
Use consistent color logic: Group similar classifications with related colors (e.g., all sorting tasks in shades of blue).
Keep high-frequency classifications near the top: Assign lower sort order numbers to the most frequently used classifications.
Test visibility: Choose colors that are distinct enough to be seen clearly on the Rail Lift screen.
Review periodically: As classifications evolve, confirm that the order and colors still support efficient selection.
Additional Notes
Ensure all changes are intentional before saving, as mismatched sort order and color combinations may cause confusion on the Rail Lift screen.
No system restart is required; refresh or wait up to 15 minutes for the changes to appear.
