Status Buttons
Spindle Workforce offers flexibility for customization, so the specific status buttons you see may vary depending on the configuration chosen for your facility. Status buttons are typically located along the top left of the screen and are associated with colors for easy identification. To enter a status, tap the corresponding button.
Logging into Workforce
To log into Workforce, users have two options:
Swipe their RFID card: This is a quick and convenient method for employees who have been issued RFID cards.
Input their PIN: Users can manually enter their PIN using the keypad on the Workforce device.
Security Features
Masked IDs: The numbers are masked for security as users type their PINs. However, users can tap "Show" or "Hide" to reveal or conceal their PINs.
CLR button: This button clears any previously entered information on the keypad.
Backspace button: This button allows users to delete individual characters, similar to the backspace key on a keyboard.
Selecting a Lane
Once users are successfully logged into Workforce, they will encounter a few different options for selecting a lane:
Default Lane: If a user was previously logged into a specific lane on a piece of equipment (such as an Ironer or Small Piece Folder), Workforce will default to that lane upon their next login.
Nearest Equipment or Area: Some login stations are configured to default to the equipment or area nearest to the station, sometimes even being physically attached to the equipment.
List of Areas: If neither of the above scenarios applies, Workforce will display a list of all available Areas within the Plant for the user to select.
The user must select the desired equipment or lane from the presented options to begin working. You can access Areas if the option above doesn't work for you. Further details on changing classifications, initiating pending maintenance, and other related actions will be covered in subsequent sections.

Classifications
To ensure accurate production tracking, it's essential your employees match their classification in Spindle Workforce with the product they are currently handling. This typically involves selecting the appropriate classification at the beginning of their shift and updating it as needed throughout the day when product changes occur.
Tip: Do you have Equipment Utilization? Interested in checking out when or how often classification changes occur? Check out this article: Equipment Status Page - Page Overview. Or head over to the Equipment Status Page and look for blue indicator lines.
Accessing Equipment to Change Classification
If you're starting from the main login screen, navigate to the area containing the equipment you need to access.
If you're already assigned to a specific piece of equipment and lane, you can change the classification directly from that screen. Log in! Once you're on the equipment screen, tap the appropriate classification.
Assigning All Lanes with the Same Classification
Each lane can handle different products simultaneously. Tap the classification button that matches the product you're currently handling. To streamline the process for teams working on the same equipment, Spindle offers a convenient way to assign the same classification to all lanes at once. Tap Set for All Lanes This button will apply the selected classification to all lanes on the equipment.
Note: It can take up to 1-2 minutes for your Spindle Production Display to reflect the changes made to classifications.

Entering Manual Entries
For equipment and classifications that lack automated data collection, Spindle Workforce provides the capability for manual entry. This feature is commonly used in hand-folding areas and similar manual tasks.
Types of Manual Entries:
Manual entries can be entered as either piece counts or stack counts. The equipment screen will indicate whether a stack count is required for a particular classification. You can have multiple classifications tied to a single piece of equipment, and they can be a mixture of piece and stack count classifications.
Worker Entry:
Log in to Workforce: The user assigned to the manual lane will log into Spindle Workforce.
Access Equipment and Classification: Navigate to the relevant equipment and classification.
Enter Count: Enter the count (piece or stack) as required.
Confirm Entry: Upon successful entry, a confirmation message will appear in the top right corner.
Manager Entry (New Feature):

Access Manual Entry Area: Navigate to the area and equipment where manual counts are required.
Select Lane: Choose the lane of the worker responsible for the work.

Maintenance
When equipment needs attention, Spindle Workforce provides tools for production workers, maintenance engineers, janitors, and management users to initiate maintenance requests and track equipment status. Here's how to navigate these features:
Important: The exact options and processes within Spindle Workforce may differ slightly based on your facility's licensing, configuration, and standard operating procedures. Always consult your facility's guidelines, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines for initiating and managing maintenance requests.
Quick Maintenance (Production Worker & Production Management-Initiated)
This is designed for brief, timed maintenance tasks for Production Workers, typically with a default duration of 2 minutes (this can vary based on facility-specific configuration). Using Quick Maintenance isn't recommended for Emergency Maintenance requests or as part of your process for notifying maintenance engineers.
Production Management Access: Managers can place equipment into Quick Maintenance.
Production Worker Access: Workers can enter Quick Maintenance for equipment their assigned to.
Maintenance Team: Maintenance does not have access to Quick Maintenance as it is designed to handle easy clearable jams, bag replacement on baggers, etc.
Pending Maintenance
Placing equipment into Pending Maintenance doesn't generate alerts for your Maintenance Team. So that you know, your facility's standard communication procedures for maintenance requests will apply.
Equipment Utilization or CMMS Users: If your facility has these modules, you can place equipment into different Maintenance statuses.
Production Worker-Initiated: Only users currently logged into and assigned to the specific equipment and lane can initiate Pending Maintenance.
Production Management & Maintenance Team: Pending Maintenance requires you to be assigned to a Production Lane to access Lane or Equipment Status options.
Production Process:
Log into Spindle Workforce: Workers will be defaulted to the equipment they assigned themselves.
Select Lane Status: Typically labeled "Pending Maintenance" but can differ based on your specific configurations.
Tip: If the entire equipment requires maintenance (e.g., ironers), you can simultaneously set the status for all lanes by tapping Set for All Lanes.
Maintenance Process:

Upcoming Maintenance: Start scheduled Preventive Maintenance or Work Orders.
Lane & Equipment Settings Tab
Requirements: The user must be assigned a lane to access these settings.
Options (may vary):
Equipment Status: Set equipment status to "Normal" for general maintenance or select the appropriate status for downtime maintenance.
Maintenance Type: Choose the type of maintenance being performed. Option may not be present based on Equipment Status selection.

Upcoming Maintenance
Accessing and starting upcoming maintenance is recommended through the "Maintenance" tab for convenience. However, they can be started here just as quickly with just a few more taps. Starting creates a "Current Maintenance" task for others to join. Joining from "Areas" works in just a few extra taps.
Important Note on Joining Process: No additional action is needed after joining and logging into the lane. Previously selected options by other users remain the default for any users joining the task. Changes made affect all users assigned to the lane or equipment. Remember to "Set for all lanes" if the change applies to the equipment.
Note: We recommend accessing both Join & Work Collaboratively for existing tasks and starting Upcoming Maintenance through the dedicated "Maintenance" tab for a smoother and more efficient workflow. However, both options are available on the Equipment Page for your convenience.
