Assignment to a Lane and Classification
FollowBefore beginning work on a piece of equipment, we must log in and place ourselves into an equipment lane. It is highly possible on various equipment within the laundry facility that you'll need to select the appropriate classification throughout the day. Every location is unique; however, there are similarities in ironers, baggers, hand folding, load building, garment processing, etc., that often have multiple classifications.
The table of contents below breaks down the sections within this article. Each item will be a link you can click on that will take you immediately to that section.

Selecting or Changing a Classification
Assign All Lanes with the Same Classification
Assigning Yourself to a Lane
At the start of beginning work on a piece of equipment, you'll need to log into Spindle and assign yourself to an open lane on the equipment. Failure to log into a lane will generate NA counts that will impact your Facility Health Score, and the production worker will not get any productivity percentage. It applies to all Spindle users feeding any product into equipment.
- After logging into the Spindle Login Station, access the area of the plant you'll be working if not already in that area.
- Choose & tap an available lane on the equipment. Your name will appear in the lane once successful.
Selecting or Changing a Classification
As stated above, you'll need to change your classification to match the handled product. Typically you select the classification at the start of your day and throughout your day as product changes.
There are 2 different ways to handle changing classification, depending on where you are after logging into Spindle. Spindle will default you to the equipment you are already assigned. And the other way could be from the main login screen showing all areas within your laundry facility.
Access Equipment to Change Classification
First, we need to access the area we need to change the classification. Spindle will log you in and display the area logged into if you are already assigned to a lane and equipment. This section applies to instances where you need to access an area you are not logged into and typically will apply to plant management.
From the main login screen, access the area the equipment exists for the classification change.
Change Classification
-
From the area view, click the picture of the equipment.
-
Here you can access the configured Classifications on this piece of equipment. Each lane of the equipment can handle different products/classifications simultaneously. Click the down arrow in the Current Classification selector box. Our example below will move from Pillow Cases to Cotton Napkins.
NOTE: You must select the lane number if you have management access.
- Once the classification is changed, Spindle will update the lane you're assigned. You will notice that all other lanes remained in the previous classification. If you need to assign all lanes with the same classification, read the section labeled Assign All Lanes with the Same Classification. NOTE: It can take up 1 - 2 minutes for your Spindle Production Display to update with changes.
Assign All Lanes with the Same Classification
Having each production worker change their classification when logged in with other teammates is unnecessary. Your Spindle login station can already switch all classifications with a button, which works the same for Lane Status when placing equipment into Pending or Emergency Maintenance. Once you make the change on one lane, you can click 'Assign All Lanes With Same Classification'.
NOTE: The Catcher Classification can't be changed and will default to whatever classification everyone is assigned.
